As our network of Crave Cookies stores continues to expand, we want to ensure that all our franchisees are on the same page regarding our gift card process. This guide is designed to clarify how we handle gift cards, including those from our previous POS system, Toast, and how this practice benefits our stores and customers alike.
The Standard Franchise Approach to Gift Cards
In line with common franchise practices, the revenue from a gift card sale is accredited to the store where it's purchased. This method simplifies financial management and ensures consistency across our numerous locations. It's important to note that when a gift card is redeemed at a store different from where it was sold, the redeeming store does not receive direct financial compensation from that sale.
Why This Approach?
This approach is about more than just accounting. It's a strategic decision that opens up opportunities for franchisees to attract new customers. When a gift card from another Crave Cookies location is redeemed at your store, it brings in a customer who might not have visited otherwise. This is your chance to make a lasting impression and potentially convert them into a regular patron.
Handling Large Gift Card Redemptions
We understand that redeeming large-value gift cards can significantly impact your store's operations. Should you encounter a situation where a customer wishes to redeem a gift card of a substantial amount (e.g., over $100), please get in touch with us. We are here to support you and will work together to find the best solution.
Redeeming Toast Gift Cards
As many of you know, Toast was our previous POS system. Despite moving to a new system, we can still manually enter Toast gift cards. This ensures that we continue to provide excellent service to every customer, including those holding onto gift cards from our earlier days.
What Does This Mean for Your Store?
Embracing this gift card process is about seeing the bigger picture. Each new customer walking through your doors with a gift card is an opportunity for growth and establishing long-term relationships. It's about building the Crave community, one cookie, and one customer at a time.
